SAEED AL MAKTOUM AND AAARON MARE TAKE VICTORY IN ROUND 2 OF THE ABU DHABI BAJAJ CHALLENGE

The race which is open for cars and motorcycles was held in the Liwa desert

Abu Dhabi, Sunday 17th DEC: The second round of the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge, organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in cooperation with the Emirates Motorsports Organisation (EMSO), concluded in the Liwa Desert near Tal Moreeb in the Al Dhafra Region.

The challenge was held under the umbrella of the Abu Dhabi 360 programme, an initiative that encourages society to make sport a part of daily life, and featured large local community participation alongside an elite group of motorsport enthusiasts from all over the GCC.

Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum won the overall Car category after covering a distance of 90 km in 57:22 minutes. Atif Al Zarouni came in second nearly 12 minutes behind him completing a time of 01h09’06”, and Saif Bin Saifan was third with a time of 1h11’34”.

In the Motorcycle category, Aaron Mare won the overall classification after covering the race distance in 01h12’ 52”, closely followed by Mohammed Al Balooshi 51 seconds behind him, and Alex McInnes, just 3.8 seconds behind Al Balooshi.

The winners were crowned by Saeed Al Muhairi, Director of the Sports Department at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Badr Al Ali, Director of Control and Compliance at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Mahir Badri, Chief Executive of the Emirates Motorsports Organisation (EMSO).

Round Three of the championship will be held on 27th January, and registration will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
